Public Space Dramaturgy
If performance today is to function as an act of "public_ing" (Theodoridou, 2022), or as a framework for the public alternative to capitalism, how might we - as creators and/or dramaturges - use and position the body in public contexts? How might such positioning of the body contribute to the empowerment of democratic exchange? And how can public spaces be returned to citizens through such practices? These are the initial questions raised by Public Space Dramaturgy, co-organised by La Bellone and Cifas.
fyllenia grigoriou, participant and observer at the five-day seminar, looks back at the series of exercises and performative scripts experimented with by the group. In particular, she explores the interaction between the dramaturgy of public spaces and the meanings of the public body.
