What would it be like to wander in the city, to become lost and found within its streets?
We rarely have the opportunity to experience the city outside of schedules and routines.
This workshop will offer a moment of calm and reflection before the hurly burly of the Winter holidays. Participants will be invited to experience some intensely quiet work, and to explore what is needed to truly create space for re-thinking and new perspectives within our creative practices.
Our time will be divided into three sessions: studio time, involving vocal and physical exercises to clear the mind and invite focus, City time, in which the group will collectively and individually explore various urban locations, inviting a process of deep listening in public spaces, and finally, conversation time.
Rajni Shah
Whether online, in a public space, or in a theatre, Rajni’s work aims to open up new spaces for conversation and the meeting of diverse voices. From 2006-2010 she conducted a three-year enquiry into the relationship between gift and conversation in public space called small gifts. From 2005-2012 she produced a trilogy of large-scale performances (Mr Quiver, Dinner with America and Glorious) addressing the complexities of cultural identity in the 21st century. Rajni is an Artsadmin Associate Artist, an Honorary Research Fellow at The Centre for Contemporary Theatre, Birkbeck College.
