This is the story of a riot police officer who runs away after being given one order too many. No, he will not be going back to stab at the bouncy castle set up by the right to housing collective Zone Neutre a second time. He rips off his visor and runs, runs, runs towards the forest.
In this forest, he trembles because he is no longer facing a park that is easy to secure… Well, he isn’t actually in the forest but in the reed bed of a broek. So why is he trembling? Is he afraid of mosquitoes? Or of a flying football?
Our police officer slowly rediscovers the knowledge that has survived within his body: walking to slow down, shaping clay from the mud, eating knotweed that tastes of rhubarb, plaiting willow… He is now thinking with the wetlands. A sentence by historian Allan-Lee Wei, heard whilst he was lying in wait near the Wiels (another Brussels marsh in Forest), comes back to him and guides him: “And let’s not forget that these spaces can speak and do speak to us.”
Planning permission has just been granted to The Dock project, which would see the Biestebroeck Marsh (Anderlecht, Brussels) disappear. This marsh was, amongst other things, where the artist and dramaturg Vivi Focquet gave his dramaturgy seminar Lieux Polyphoniques in 2025. This planning permission contradicts a court ruling that prohibits building on any living wetlands covering more than 0.5 ha until the end of 2026. The organisation Alliance Marais Biestebroeck has released a petition to sign before 20 November.

aka SiDOGS - towards pirate dramaturgy
Following her talk at Feral 2026, bruna bonanno leads a Dramaturgy Practices seminar, co-organised with La Bellone
What happens when dramaturgy is hacked by a crew of pirates?
Beyond flags and fabrics, beyond the page and the stage, aka beyond north and south, aka SiDOGS will (de)structure itself in the form of one or more geographical maps, aka treasure maps. These will explore the pirate treasure, its material forms and perspectives – aka the actions that enable it to be found, kept and redistributed – aka how does one become a pirate on dry land?
Around the table: the history of piracy, pirate codes, anarchist theories, local currencies, maritime economy… To make Brussels one of the places in the world where SiDOGS can meet: contrary, stubborn, lucid, aka pirates.
Mehdi Dahkan was one of the artists taking part in the first cycle of IN SITU PLATFORM, a four-year programme supporting emerging artists who are developing artistic projects in public space and unconventional venues across Europe.
Inspired by Aïta, a Moroccan oral tradition of resistance, KMs of Resistance transforms breath into a language of protest. Through breathing, clapping, and rhythmic movement, the performers create a powerful soundscape using only their bodies. As silence becomes rhythm and rhythm becomes the pulse of a crowd, audiences are invited into a shared experience of listening, solidarity, and resistance.
Feral ended on 26 September by the canal, leaving behind a whirlwind of emotions, hopes and shared joy
We explored artistic practices that act as forms of creative insubordination or radical prefiguration, or as alternative ways of inhabiting public space.
Feral will continue to inspire us throughout the year, with its Pirate knowledge and tactics.
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing traces of Feral Pirate on Cifasotheque, Cifas’ resources platform.
And finally, until spring, our editorial team will be working on putting together the next Feral Magazine. This paper publication enriches the documentation of Feral festival by reflecting on the public sphere through artistic practices that engage with pressing socio-political issues.

A new publication on our resources platform: SPY_BOOK(S)LET, a zine by bruna bonanno on pirate dramaturgy
For Feral 2026, bruna bonanno compiled this booklet, brimming with texts, images and other documents gathered during her research into piracy and its links to the dramaturgical process.
“A yarn”, at sea, is the name for a thread, a rope, a cord, a net ; it is a story told whilst at sea – collective and solitary, disjointed, reinvented each time. At every knot, the threads pull, carry away, steal, invent. Between these knots, this booklet takes shape: a dramaturgical perspective that dips its feet – and its head – into salt water, and which, in the shadow of a flag belonging to neither state nor nation, begins to spy, watch, keep vigil and spin… to persist in the middle of the sea.
