**This year's edition of Feral festival ended on 17th September. **
With the help of the participants and a few ghosts, we generously continued the Feral investigation: What form and place does performing art take in the city and its fringes? this year, we moved along watery shores (a canal, a pool, a river and a marsh).
Some written documentation, compiled by Hanna El Fakir and Nino André, will be available soon. To know more ↓
Revue Feral
After Klaxon, Cifas is launching a new publication!
The Revue Feral is the continuation of Klaxon, sharing contemporary thinking and practice on performing art in the city and the notion of public space. It is a way of extending the shared thinking that takes place during Feral, yearly highlight of Cifas's programme. For each edition, one or more artists will be invited to reflect on what has been experienced and exchanged collectively.
For the 2022 edition, Brussels-based artist Céline Estenne kept track of the various exchanges that marked the festival. From the Bellone courtyard to the Le Début des Haricots urban farm, on the Waterbus or the Open Akker collective's plot of land, she takes us on a sensitive journey, to the rhythm of the speakers' direct words and her own impressions.
Constellations is our annual co-learning programme for artists from all disciplines with an in-process project around performing art in the city.
Taking place over two days a month between January and April 2024, a dozen or so Constellation artists will discuss their practices, presenting short artistic prototypes, giving feedback and sharing methods.
This year, Cifas is inviting the artist Anna Rispoli to come and talk to the constellated artists. The starting point for this cross-disciplinary reflection will be the antagonistic, protesting and transforming dimension of public space and time. If conflict is already a way of creating relationships, what role can artistic practice play in the city?
The call for applications is open until 21st November 2023, 17:00 (CET)
Arpentages
On the initiative of several Constellations 2023 artists, a series of collective reading events (or "arpentages") about performing art in public space is being launched. The first "arpentage" will take place on Saturday 25th November from 14:00 to 18:00 at La Bellone (Rue de Flandre 46 - 1000 Brussels). We will be tackling Estelle Zhong Mengual's L'art en commun: Réinventer les formes du collectif en contexte démocratique.
Coming soon, a practical and exciting new feature: the Cifasotheque. It is still in construction, but from December it will contain articles, images and texts recounting over 10 years of activities, as well as all our publications (including KLAXON and the brand new Revue Feral 2022) and our toolbox, which will compile a glossary, a directory, and intellectual and methodological resources for your projects in public space. All in thoughtful, mature and stylishly designed formats.
Stay tuned...
